Educational Qualification

Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institute. The crucial date for possessing the essential qualification is the closing date for online applications (22.06.2026).

Age Limit

18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2026 for most posts. Age limit varies post-wise: 18–27 years for lower posts (Auditor, Accountant, Postal Assistant, Tax Assistant, SSA/UDC), 18–30 years for Group B posts (Inspector, ASO, JSO), 18–32 years for Junior Statistical Officer.

Nationality

Candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01.01.1962, or a person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries.

Selection Process

Tier-I (Qualifying CBE): 4 sections, 100 questions, 200 marks, 1 hour. Tier-II (Merit CBE): Paper-I compulsory for all posts; Paper-II for JSO/Statistical Investigator Grade-II; Paper-III for AAO/Assistant Accounts Officer. Final merit based on Tier-II marks only. For posts in BRO and certain inspection cadres, Physical Standard Test and Medical Examination are also required.

Physical & Medical Standards

Mandatory for Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN, Sub-Inspector/JIO in NCB (MHA), Sub-Inspector in CBI and NIA, and posts in Border Roads Organization (BRO). Physical tests conducted by User Departments after final selection.
